Proposal: Haskell Platform Candidates

The idea is that packages that should eventually be in the platform be included is a "Platform Candidate" release. It is understood that these new packages may undergo radical API changes, their dependancies will change, and, initially, not all candidates will be installable on all platforms (getting Mac and Windows installers working simultaneously is sometimes challenging.)
A select number might be "final candidates" but need further community experience before becoming part of the Platform.
I would think this process could work well in conjunction with "add-on packs."
One would hope that this would ease the burden on the official Haskell Platform folks: they would only have to deal with 'proven' packages (which had emerged from dependency Hades).
