Comment:

 Something like {{{'Item's}}} looked really awful with the old css, with
 the new "ocean" css, it looks quite ok.  So I see no reason to tackle
 this.

 I'll close this as "wont fix".  If you think we still need this feature,
 I'm happy to implement it
 (with a minor modification**).
 Just reopen the ticket.

 ** I would only putting the s (or whatever follows the liked name) inside
 the code block, but not inside the anchor-element.  This way they are
 rendered with the same font, but you can still differentiate between
 {{{`Item`s}}} and {{{`Items`}}}.
